Man Health Cover Model
Radioactive Releases in the Environment: Impact and Assessment by John R. Cooper, Man s environment is pervaded by ionizing radiation of predominantly natural origin but now with an important contribution from anthropogenic activities. Exposure to ionizing radiation can have serious health implications, which is why it is of concern to us. This book brings together under one cover, the fundamentals of radiological protection, the techniques used for measuring radioactivity and radionuclides and the methods for modelling the dispersion of radionuclides in the environment. Information on radioactive decay, the interaction of ionizing radiation with matter and biological effects of radiation is provided in a form that enables the reader to quickly appreciate its importance to the environment and human health. Summaries of the effects of past releases, including the Chernobyl accident, are included as well as examples of applications of models to calculate and predict concentrations of radionuclides in our environment. This book is aimed at all those studying, at undergraduate and graduate levels, radioactivity in the environment and its impact on man. It will also serve as a handbook for workers in the fields of radiochemical analysis and environmental modelling and for scientists, consultants and environmental health and pollution officers who have to provide radiological data or information for legislative and related purposes.
Essential Microeconomics for Public Policy Analysis by John M. Levy, John Levy's text presents microeconomic theory for use in analyzing and formulating public policy. It couples a direct and non-intimidating approach to essential theory with a presentation that is sophisticated at the policy level. It does not attempt to cover the entire body of economic theory, but rather presents those elements of theory most relevant to courses in public economics and public policy in such programs as public administration, policy analysis, health planning, environmental management, urban affairs, and urban planning. The text is divided into two parts. The first introduces basic concepts with an emphasis on their philosophical underpinnings and policy uses; the second consists of six essays on policy-related subjects, selected to make use of concepts presented in the first part. Among the unusual features of the book are the discussion of the tax expenditure concept, benefit cost analysis with numerical example, substantial discussions of the origins and philosophical implications of economic man as a behavioral model, and an entire chapter devoted to public choice.
Model State Emergency Health Powers Act - The Model State Emergency Health Powers Act (MSEHPA) was a proposal by the Center for Law and the Public's Health to aid America's state legislatures in revising their public health laws to more effectively control epidemics and respond to bioterrorism. However, the proposal was immediately and vociferously criticised by conservatives, civil libertarians, AIDS activists, and doctors, among others, for its sweeping reach that critics feared could be abused by government. Mental health model - The mental health model of psychological well-being regards the human mind on the model of a physical organism. Syndromes of behavior or thought which lead to distress are, in this model, regarded as "disorders" which are being "caused" by something other than one's own choices. David Cassidy: Man Under Cover - David Cassidy: Man Under Cover was a show he starred in after the end of The Partridge Family series. The pilot was a two-hour episode of Police Story that featured David Cassidy playing an undercover policeman. Cover model - A Cover Model is the person whose photograph is used on the front of a magazine, choosen for their beauty, not any particular newsworthyness.
